Fall protection training where passing actually means something

Since 2008, Hewall Safety has developed and delivered training for safe work where there is a risk of falling, personal fall protection systems, rescue, and inspection of personal fall protection equipment.

For us, it is not enough that a participant has simply attended a course.

Our training is based on:

• defined learning objectives,
• controlled training material,
• instruction, practice and feedback,
• theoretical and practical assessment where applicable,
• clear and defined requirements for passing.

Participants are given the opportunity to understand, practise and receive feedback before their knowledge and skills are assessed.

The training certificate therefore shows more than attendance – it shows that the participant has met the requirements within the defined scope of the specific training course.

Quality-assured training

The training concept has been developed by Hewall Safety since 2008 and is quality-assured within Hewall Safety’s management system, in line with the principles of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

The content is based on:

• applicable occupational health and safety legislation,
• relevant regulations and standards,
• current instructions for use and product documentation,
• defined learning objectives,
• controlled training material and established assessment criteria.

A more reliable basis for the employer

The employer has extensive responsibility for ensuring that work involving fall risks can be carried out safely. This is not limited to ensuring that workers have sufficient knowledge.

Hewall Safety’s training gives employers better conditions for managing matters relating to:

• risk assessment and selection of protective measures,
• safe use of personal fall protection equipment and personal fall protection systems,
• pre-use checks,
• care, documentation and management of equipment,
• rescue preparedness and rescue,
• periodic and exceptional inspection within the defined scope,
• allocation of relevant occupational health and safety tasks to persons with the necessary knowledge, authority and resources.

Participants do not only learn how something should be done, but also why, which conditions must be met, and when work or an assessment needs to be stopped and reconsidered.

Where assessment is included, the employer receives a clearer and more reliable basis for determining that the required knowledge and practical skills are present within the relevant training area.

A coherent training pathway

Planning, Work and Rescue with Personal Fall Protection Systems

A two-day training course for persons who need to plan, lead or carry out work where personal fall protection systems are used, while ensuring that rescue preparedness is included in the planning from the outset.

The training follows the entire work process:

work task → risk assessment → selection of measures → personal fall protection system → checks and use → rescue preparedness and rescue

Competent Person – Inspection of Personal Fall Protection Equipment

A two-day advanced training course for persons who are to carry out and document periodic and exceptional inspections of personal fall protection equipment as a competent person within the defined scope of the training.

The course builds on the foundation provided by the training above and covers the complete inspection process:

identify and verify → establish status and history → inspect → assess and decide → document and communicate

Together, the courses provide a coherent competence pathway from planning and safe use to checks, equipment management and periodic inspection.

Practical fall protection training in our own training facility

Realistic training – indoors and under controlled conditions

Our training facility in Stockholm is designed to allow participants to turn theoretical knowledge into practical skills in a realistic but controlled training environment.

Training can include, among other things:

• lattice mast,
• confined and enclosed spaces,
• roof and façade environments,
• vertical and horizontal beam systems,
• vertical access systems,
• personal fall protection systems and rescue equipment.

This allows the training to progress from legislation, planning and risk assessment to actual use, problem-solving and practical skills – without being dependent on weather conditions or temporary conditions at an external worksite.
