EN Standards
When a product complies with an EN standard, it has been tested and verified to meet the requirements and specifications defined in the relevant European Standard. Compliance with EN standards helps ensure that products are safe, reliable and meet harmonised performance requirements across Europe.
EN standards apply primarily within Europe. Other regions use different standards, such as ANSI standards in North America. Additional standards may also apply to specific applications, including products approved for use over sharp edges.
Below you will find information about the most important standards related to personal fall protection equipment, rescue equipment and work at height.
CE Marking (Conformité Européenne)
Personal protective equipment may only be placed on the European market and used when it complies with the requirements of the Personal Protective Equipment Regulation (EU) 2016/425 and carries the CE marking where required.
The CE marking, together with the product's identification labels and markings, demonstrates that the manufacturer declares compliance with all applicable health, safety and performance requirements.
However, accessories used with personal fall protection equipment are not always classified as personal protective equipment themselves and may therefore not require CE marking. Examples include certain accessory products such as foot loops and other supporting equipment.
