Rescue systems

System Function:

• A rescue system enables a person to perform self-rescue or rescue others.
• It prevents the casualty from falling during the rescue and allows lifting or lowering the casualty to a safe location.

System Components:

1. Anchor device according to EN 795, including one of the following:
   • Type A – Permanent anchor point
   • Type B – Temporary anchor point
   • Type C – Horizontal lifeline system with flexible line (wire rope or kernmantle rope), permanent or temporary
   • Type D – Horizontal lifeline system with rigid rail, permanent installation
   • Type E – Counterweight anchor device, maximum 15° inclination
2. Harness including one of the following:
   • EN 361 Full Body Harness
   • EN 1497 Rescue Harness
   • EN 1498 Rescue Sling
3. Connector including one of the following:
   • EN 1496 Class A Rescue Lifting Device (lifting only)
   • EN 1496 Class B Rescue Lifting Device (lifting and lowering)
   • EN 341 Type 1 Automatic Rescue Descender
   • EN 341 Type 2 Manual Rescue Descender

Note: Connectors must be attached to the harness using connectors in accordance with EN 362, and to the anchor device via the device’s attachment point (e.g., an EN 795 Type B anchor point such as a tripod or davit arm) or with EN 362 connectors. If the user connects directly with an EN 362 connector to a static structural element (e.g., scaffolding tube, ladder rung, or truss brace) instead of an EN 795 anchor device, it is critical to ensure the minimum structural strength. The required minimum strength is specified in the connector’s user instructions and is at least 10 kN (1000 kg).
