Fall Arrest System – Sliding Device EN 353-2 on Kernmantle Rope EN 1891 Type A
On roofs and terraces, a temporary or permanent horizontal lifeline EN 795 Type C or horizontal rail system EN 795 Type D can serve as an anchorage device that provides horizontal mobility. For mobility and safety, employ a full body harness EN 361 and sliding device EN 353-2 on kernmantle rope (EN 1891 Type A) attached to the anchor (fig.25a). Ensure fall clearance is sufficient to prevent striking the surface or any obstacles. When working close to edges with pendulum fall risks (fig.25c-d), use an additional EN 795 Type A or Type B anchorage device, or reposition the anchor to eliminate the swing risk.
Fall Arrest System – Fall Arrest Block EN 360
Utilize a fall arrest block EN 360 with a full body harness EN 361 for optimal mobility and safety on roofs and terraces. Certified for horizontal use and sharp edges, this setup requires proper fall clearance and sharp-edge protection per PPE-R/11.060. Near edges, combine it with a tensioned safety line equipped with a sliding device EN 353-2 on kernmantle rope or additional EN 795 anchorage devices to avoid pendulum falls.
Work Positioning System – Positioning Lanyard EN 358
A work positioning system typically includes a full body harness EN 361 with an integrated work positioning belt EN 358 and sit harness EN 813, paired with an adjustable positioning lanyard EN 358 kept under constant tension. It connects to an anchorage device compliant with EN 795 (Types A–E). Ensure the setup prevents access to the roof edge or employ supplemental solutions such as guardrails, or pair it with fall arrest systems like sliding device EN 353-2 on kernmantle rope or a fall arrest block EN 360.
