6.1 Before equipment is put into service

Before a product is put into use, it must be clear which product it is and which instructions apply to it.

Check that:

• the product and model can be identified,
• the markings are legible,
• a unique ID or serial number is available where required,
• the current manufacturer's instructions are available,
• relevant manufacturing, purchase or first-use dates are known,
• an equipment record is created where required.

The manufacturer's instructions must be available to the user before work begins.

Remember

Both the product and the instructions that apply to it must be identifiable.
