Personal fall protection equipment may have a limited service life.
The requirements for the actual product are stated in the manufacturer's instructions.
Equipment may need to be taken out of service when, for example:
- the specified service life has expired,
- retirement criteria in the manufacturer's instructions are met,
- the markings or identity can no longer be verified,
- the history is insufficient,
- the equipment has been exposed to an event that requires retirement according to the manufacturer,
- safe use cannot be confirmed for another reason.
A successful periodic inspection does not automatically extend a specified service life.
Service life should also not be confused with warranty.
Repair or servicing may only be carried out in the manner and by the party permitted by the manufacturer.
Remember
When safe use cannot be confirmed, the equipment must be taken out of service.
