The harness couples the user to the fall protection system.
The harness and attachment point to be used depend on the function of the system.
Common standards include:
- EN 361 – Full body harness For fall arrest systems.
- EN 358 – Work positioning belts and equipment For work positioning and restraint where the product is intended for that purpose.
- EN 813 – Sit harness Used, among other applications, in rope access systems.
Specific rescue equipment also exists, for example:
- EN 1497 – Rescue harness
- EN 1498 – Rescue loop
An attachment point is not automatically suitable for every system function. Follow the markings and the manufacturer's instructions.
Remember
The correct harness is not enough – the correct attachment point must also be used for the required system function.
