For equipment that needs to remain traceable over time, its identity and history must be preserved.
An equipment record may include:
- product identity,
- relevant dates,
- completed periodic inspections,
- events that may have affected the equipment,
- actions taken,
- date of the next periodic inspection.
If the history of a product is unknown, the gaps must not be filled with assumptions.
