6. Inspect and manage the equipment

Personal fall protection equipment needs to remain traceable throughout its service life.

This means that the equipment needs to:

• be identifiable,
• be checked before use,
• be used and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions,
• have a known history,
• undergo periodic inspection,
• be taken out of service when safe use can no longer be confirmed.

Remember

Safe equipment is about more than the product itself – its condition, history and documentation also need to be under control.
